Currently in the world today there are initiatives which strive to give nature rights.   These are commonly known as Earth centered Laws.  Earth Centered Laws are non-anthropocentric.  They grant moral standing and enforceable rights to nature and all sentient beings.  Animals, birds, plants, water. landscapes, and more, are legally protected in some places by these laws.
